Gensan Hosts 4th National ICT Summit

The Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Councils from all the major cities and provinces gather together at the KCC Events and Convention Center in General Santos City for the 4th National ICT Summit on November 4 to 6, 2011. This annual event organized by the National ICT Confederation of the Philippines (NICP), through the leadership of Atty. Jocelle Batapa-Sigue, is hosted by the ICT Solutions Association of Region 12- General Santos City, headed by Mr. Ronald Velasquez.

The summit, anchored on the theme “Championing Countrywide Digital Development”, brings together stakeholders who willingly share their expertise geared towards improving ICT Ecosystems in the countryside while providing updates on Business Process Outsourcing and human capital development as well as areas of collaboration to generate jobs and investments.

The ICT Councils, sharing in the common vision of transforming the country into a world-class global services provider, expect to follow through and build on the unity they have established in the previous ICT Summits held in Iligan City, Clark Freeport Zone, and Bacolod City.

The keynote speech was delivered by the Chairperson of the ICT Committee in the House of Representatives, Hon. Sigfrido Tinga of Taguig City. His visually appealing and thought provoking  presentation challenged everyone to think new and better ways of doing things in the knowledge economy. Here is a collage of some of his slides-

I have the opportunity of learning first-hand from the panel of experts since I was given the privilege of hosting the event alongside the DTI Provincial Director of Sultan Kudarat Nelly Nita N. Dillera who happens to be a fellow Iskolar ng Bayan from UP Diliman College of Mass Communication.
